The collection spans the 18th - 19th centuries. there are some materials from the first half of the 20th century. Robert Scheibel was the former head of the journalism department at Pierce College in Woodland Hills, California.

Irish born lithographer, portraitist and caricaturist, Doyle worked in London as a portrait lithographer and eventually turned to political caricature.
